ABOUT ME
I was born in the richer part of Manhattan with 3 other siblings, Anna Roosevelt, Elliot Roosevelt, and Connie Roosevelt. As a child I was quite asthmatic and it caused me to be in the house for quite some time. I enjoyed much tutoring from those hired by my loving parents, until 1876 when I went off to Harvard College. There I would go on to study biology and become an accomplished naturalist. I was very serious about my religion as I demonstrated with my quote, "When I first came to Washington, I did not know there was any Dutch Reformed Church there, and went with my wife to the Episcopal Church. But, on becoming President, I learned that there was a little obscure, red brick building tucked away on the back of a lot, and I immediately selected that as my Church." The death of my father during my studies at Harvard struck a hard blow towards me, but I did not let that stop my efforts. I soon became enveloped into politics, first beginning with my run for governor against my opponent Judge Augustus van Wyck, the candidate for the infamous Tammany Hall. After this victory, McKinley brought me into the White House as Vice President. And when he was assassinated, I was forced to run the nation. However, when I was sworn in on 1901, it was at the residential home of my good friends the Wilcox's and only a choice few were present.
“If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn't sit for a month.”
I feel that this quote epitomizes Roosevelt's attitude towards most anything. He was a realist and dealt with problems straight up as demonstrated by his aggressive corollary to the Monroe Doctrine.

"Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far."
This quote shows how Roosevelt went through his life. His use of a "big stick", caused others to not toy with him because he did have a big stick and he was not at all afraid to use it.
